KRUISTEMENTVLEI  ILE DE FRANCE STOET –

BRIAN & ROBERT MILES - 082-7730707 & 082-4717866

Ile de France sheep were introduced to Kruistementvlei 25 years ago in order to produce fat lambs with superior carcass qualities and excellent growth as well as ewes with high fertility and good mothering abilities.

The Ile de France sheep is a polled white sheep with a fleece free of pigmentation, and being a non-seasonal breeder, can be bred at any time of the year. Due to excellent growth characteristics, and the production of a carcass free of excessive fat, outstanding muscle development, and the production of a large percentage of better cuts, Ile de France purebred and cross-bred lambs excel in their ability to produce superior slaughter carcasses.

Due to the growing demand for Ile de France rams, it was decided to register the Kruistementvle Ile de France Stud in 2010. Breeding material was procured by means of embryo transfers using superior rams and ewes from the well-known Denvor  Stud  belonging to Bossie Clarke in 2008 and 2009. Further genetics were introduced in 2012 from the Delovely and Elze Studs.

Brian and Robert Miles have been offering rams on the Smaldeel Bull and Ram Sale since 2009, and will once again have a string of superior rams on offer in 2014.
